Astronomicum Caesareum is a calendar, or an analog medieval computer.
Twenty-one circular discs were free to rotate around a pivot in the center of as many pages; by spinning them, the reader could pinpoint the positions of the planets at different times of the year, calculate in advance when alignments between celestial bodies would occur, etc.
